Paranormal Romance
Adam Dunne is one icy, scary mofo. As the only remaining (employed) enforcer for the witches’ Coven Nine, it’s all on him to keep his rogue brothers off the council’s radar and stay legit long enough to crack the Apollo drug ring spreading in Seattle. When shit goes sideways—as you know it must—keeping himself and Victoria Monzelle alive takes precedence, and these two mix like oil and water. He wants control, and she’s not giving it up without a fight. Good thing they’ve both got fighter spirits.
He straightened and moved toward her, his steps graceful and smooth. As a child on a field trip, she’d seen a jaguar in a zoo, and it had moved the same way, as if casual was just temporary until it decided when and how to pounce.
When Adam isn’t losing his mind over his growing attraction to Tori, he is scarily calculating and ruthless. More than just a soldier, Adam Dunne is natural strategist and a hardened killer. His job is no joke, and he takes it seriously, even when his nation seems to be turning its back on him and his family.
“I wouldn’t turn you into a frog. A mermaid, maybe.”
She leaned back. “You could turn me into a mermaid?”
He couldn’t help the smile this time. “No. First, mermaids don’t exist. Second, we use quantum physics to alter matter, like to create fire out of air. We can’t take a higher being like a human and turn it into anything else. You’re safe.”
A slight smile curved her pink lips. “Did you just make a joke?”
“I’m very funny,” he deadpanned.
Tori is strong, stubborn, and free-spirited, a musician who is under-appreciated and doing her best to hold her life together when it’s falling apart from all sides. She has spunk and fire (not literally, of course—that’s Adam’s thing, and boy is his special ability nifty!) and a giving soul. Her chemistry with Adam is intense and immediate. Like nearly all of Rebecca Zanetti’s couples, the power dynamic in the relationship skews toward Adam. His need for control compliments her deep-down, unacknowledged need to submit, and the struggle between them really shines in the sex scenes. And also, this guy can make fire—expertly controlled heat—on his fingertips. Think about that for a minute…
“You wanted all of me. Here I am.” Fire arced from the fingers inside her to her nipples.
She cried out, the heat of a thousand orgasms building. “That’s not fair,” she moaned.
He chuckled, scraping his teeth against her jugular. “I never play fair. Learn that now.”
This book furthers the Grizzly story arc as well, giving the very grumpy and terribly adorable Bear some page time. One of his scenes with Tori is seriously cute and makes me want to read his story even more.
Wicked Kiss thrills and dominates. Witch enforcer Adam Dunne kicks ass and takes names, and Victoria Monzelle meets him toe to toe. Their intense chemistry rules the pages while they sneakily conquer each other’s hearts. Wicked Kiss is a landmark story in the Realm Enforcers series, meaning some really important world things happen, so it should probably be read as part of the full series. You could read it as a standalone, but you’ll miss a lot of context and have to sort through a host of new secondary characters. This series is worth your time, so go pick it up and start with Wicked Ride if you’re new!

If you’re REALLY new to Rebecca Zanetti’s paranormal story world—which the Realm Enforcers series is set in—and you love immersing yourself in massive series story arcs, you may want to start all the way back at the Dark Protectors series with Fated. Talen, the hero of Fated, is extremely alpha, so if you’re a reader turned off by alphahole heroes (he kinda is! Sorry Talen fans!), skip to Dage’s book (the king, book #2—Claimed) or super soldier Conn’s story (#3, Hunted). I personally ADORE Conn and Moira, and that’s where I started the series, so you won’t miss too much starting at book 3. Amazon links below!
If you’re already a Rebecca Zanetti super fan and have read ALL THE THINGS by her and are looking for a new author to try, here are a few paranormal romances you may enjoy:
Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series, starting with Kiss of Midnight (read the review!). You do need to read these in order, as there’s a greater story arc that progresses through each individual romance:
Stacey Kennedy’s Magic & Mayhem series, starting with Werewolves Be Damned. This series is full of magic and romance and loss and hard choices.
Hildie McQueen’s The Protectors series, starting with Desperate Betrayal (read the review!). Fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters will especially enjoy this series (currently out of print and only available in paperback from resellers):

Working as an informant for the DEA, Victoria Monzelle is used to living on the edge. But she’s not a big fan of getting kidnapped. And definitely not by a bunch of bad boy witches with fancy-colored fire to shoot at people. So when Adam Dunne shows up and claims to be a witch enforcer, she’s not going to put her life in his hands based on his word, no matter how smooth and smart and beautifully Irish his words sound. But on the run from a tribunal of witches, she isn’t going to make it far . . .
Before she knows it, Adam’s word is all that stands between her and execution. Sophisticated, just-gotta-ruffle-him Adam has vowed to make her his one eternal mate, wild and unpredictable as she is—to save her from a sentence of certain death. But Tori isn’t interested in being anyone’s pity date. And if they think she’s unpredictable now, they should see what’s coming next . . .
