Shades of Pink and reading for a cause with Kallysten

Thank you GraveTells for hosting me again, it is always a pleasure to come visit! Today, I’d like to tell you about not just one story, but 33 of them!

As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year, I hosted a month-long event on my site, and with the help of wonderful readers we raised $250 for research. This year, I decided to ask other authors to join me in my fundraising efforts. Thirty-two of them, from veteran authors to writers new to the craft, were up to the challenge.

We each wrote a short story between 3.000 and 10.000 words. I only gave them two restrictions: for one thing, the stories had to have an element of romance. For the other, they all needed to include something pink, the color widely associated with the fight against breast cancer.

What we ended up with is an anthology of short stories titled Shades of Pink. It’s over 200.000 words, which is about 500 pages as a PDF. I couldn’t have dreamed of a wider range across all the stories. Most are adult romance, some with sex and some sweet – and a handful on the spicy side of things! A few are YA. Most are contemporary romance, but with a few paranormal, fantasy, historical and sci-fi thrown in the mix. As for the pink elements, they include a variety of things: every possible item of clothing, jewelry, a collar, champagne… even plastic flamingoes!

This anthology is our gift to everyone who donates to research until November 15th. Our suggested donation is $5, and every participant receives the anthology of 33 stories as a PDF, ePub or mobi.

Funds are raised via and all proceeds go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Readers can also donate to the charity organization of their choice (with a focus on breast cancer) and email their receipt to receive their copy of the anthology.

I have to give a shout-out to the wonderful authors who offered their work and words for this project (as well as the editors that assisted them). In alphabetical order, we have… Kate Baum, Brei Betzold, Jean Booth, Catherine Bowman, Perci T. Brooks, Rose Caraway, Bethan Cooper, Sarah Daltry, Vivien Dean, JJ Ellis, Rachel Firasek, Sabrina Garie, Amber Green, T. Hammond, Lisa M. Harley, Susan Harris, K. R. Haynes, Ellie Heller, Laura Hunsaker, Jennifer James, Torie James, K.A. Linde, C. Deanne Rowe, DJ Shaw, Madeline Sheehan, Eden Summers, Gill Taber, J Annas Walker, Matthew Welch, Kristin L. Wilson, Zoe York and Angela Yseult.

Having said all this, I’d like to invite you all to jump to the anthology page. Here you’ll find teasers for all the stories, interviews of the authors posted during all of October, and of course the link where you can donate and help this worthy cause.

Thank you!
