Damaged (Damaged, #1)Damaged by H.M. Ward

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There are so many surprise crack-up moments in this story that I literally laughed out loud every 30 minutes. It swings between a dark gravity and a light-hearted comedic adventure. The relationship between Sidney and her best friends is straight up hilarious and oh so heart-warming. It made me long for my own college days and wish we’d had our own impromptu Abs of Steel competitions.

Dr. Peter Granz is a handsome mystery, full of smooth comebacks and intelligent perception. Living up to the book’s title, both he and Sidney are damaged, and it’s very intimate feeling when they circle around the things that have happened to them and how they still cope with it. The only thing I didn’t care for was the cliffhanger ending, but at least it wrapped up part of the story nicely! Damaged was a quick, enjoyable contemporary romantic read.
