Bombshell (Hollywood A-List #1) by CD Reiss #CelebrityRomance #BookReview

Ms. Reiss’s portrayal of actor Brad Sinclair as a single, Hollywood dad is layered and complex. Brad is surrounded by people who want to use him. He’s made a few key friends in the industry, but I had no idea there was so much depth to celebrity politics. And his personal assistant is a veritable silk dragon. I don’t think I’ve ever read such a viscous combination of bristling charm and underhanded Southern civility. Brad clearly struggles with giving up the life he’d planned for himself, but he also has these moments of sweetness and fatherhood, where his love and pride for his new daughter shine bright. Ms. Reiss weaves a delicate, believable balance and lays bare a man with a good heart making hard choices.
“I don’t care what people think.”
“I do.” His palm cupped my face. “I want everyone to know what kind of person you are.”
I thought he was going to kiss me, but he stopped himself an inch away. “Except in bed. That dirty little mouth is my private business.”
“Then kiss it,” I said. “Just kiss it.”
This story is beautiful, moving. I expected Hollywood heartthrob Brad Sinclair to be swoon-worthy, but I didn’t expect such depth of character and life. And Cara, she’s spectacular too—a seething mass of wanting under that cool, calm, collected, and so very capable professional exterior. The craft and punch of the story easily kept pace with the rioting personalities and impossible circumstances, and the effect is a hand-to-chest, big-eyes, can’t-get-enough swell of emotion.
I’m not a kid person, and I’m a tough sell on children in romance settings (wait, why am i reading a nanny romance? Hot celebrity actor, duh!), but Nicole is downright adorable even when she’s mid-terrifying-tantrum.
“We’re always children,” I said. “Everything we do, everything we love, hate, fear, it’s all the child in us reacting to our adult problems.”
And, of course, Bombshell is sexy. So very sexy. Cara and a Brad build up a sizzling tension before getting down and dirty.
“I want to fuck you right here, teacup.”
“The engraved invitation’s in the mail.” I raised my leg over his waist and he tucked his hand behind my knee. “It says, ‘Your dick is cordially invited to come inside.’”
Without spoiling anything, I have to say that the ending is a little bit heart-breaking. Ms. Reiss didn’t hold back on the hard decisions. And yet. And yet…it still didn’t end there. This book is storytelling gold. I have rarely read a romance nestled in such a skillfully crafted story framework. Bombshell is an amazing read. Blew through it in a day, and it’s no short story. Easily one of the best romances (or fiction in any genre) of 2017.

Hollywood bad boy Brad Sinclair always gets his way, whether it's the role he wants or the bikini-clad model he has to have. But when a bombshell gets dropped in his lap in the form of a dimpled five-year-old from a forgotten relationship, he knows his life is about to change forever.
Cara DuMont isn't exactly thrilled when she gets assigned to be the nanny for the latest box-office king. She has one rule: no celebrity fathers, especially single ones with devilish good looks and rock-hard abs.
But as soon as Cara meets Brad and his adorable little girl, she knows she's in for a world of trouble. Because there's something about the way Brad looks at her that makes her believe that some rules are meant to be broken...
