Giveaway (US/Int): Ann Mayburn on getting down and dirty with demons

by davincikittieMay 7, 2012

I figured it was time to spice things up a little, so before we welcome our guest author for today, here’s a friendly warning…

************ DISCLAIMER ************

What you are about to see and read contains strong, explicit sexual references and images.

If you are under 18 or are easily offended by erotica language and visuals, stop reading now.

No, really.

Last chance!

Ok, if you’re still here, I assume you mean to be and am not responsible for gasps of shock or loss of innocence. =)

Please help me welcome erotica author Ann Mayburn to GT today!

I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve always had a thing for demons…the sexy kind of course. 😉

When I was a teenager I watched a movie called ‘Legend’ over, and over, and over again. Now, I don’t know if this qualifies me for therapy, but I always wanted her to end up with the evil demon prince instead of a young Tom Cruise. I mean come on, this kick ass and seductive lord of darkness or a guy in a whole lotta body glitter and a pretty gold skirt. 😛

There was just something wonderfully forbidden about this huge, powerful demon lord that was a master of seduction. I just knew that if she became his evil queen he wouldn’t be so evil anymore, that her love would save him. Thankfully I didn’t carry this theory over into my real life dating strategy, but in the realms of fantasy there is nothing more sexy to me than the ultimate bad boy, a demon.

When I began writing my demon romance, Daughter of Lust, I wanted to not only immerse the reader in a rich world built off of the biblical mythos of demons. I also wanted to challenge the view of one man, one woman, forever and ever etc. My leading lady, Natalia, is born to a poor Russian peasant family in the 1860s. She has always been a good daughter until unnatural cravings, dark sexual dreams, and dangerous desires begin to overtake her. It is as if a part of her soul that has long been sleep begins to awaken and she sees the world as it really is for the first time.

I don’t want to ruin any of the plot for you, because for as erotic as this book is, there is more storyline than sex. However, I will say that I explore all types of sexuality and do a good bit of Dominance/submission play. Well, it’s easier to show it than to explain it, so here is a very, very naughty sneak peek from Daughter of Lust.

If thoust are a virgin, cast thine eyes aside lest ye become mentally deflowered!

Belal, High Prince of Hell and Keeper of the Deadly Sin Sloth, is expanding his power by trafficking opium. He revels in the results, and as sloth begins to overtake the mortal realm, all of Hell suffers. The balance of power in Hell, as well as the fate of the Universe, will be decided by a half-demon peasant girl.

Natalia Shura, the daughter of Asmodeus, High Prince of Hell and Keeper of the Deadly Sin Lust, is unaware of the nature of her birth. When her demonic side begins to awaken, her world becomes dominated by dark passions and deadly cravings. Natalia fears she is losing her mind. But her love has been foretold as the only thing that can stop Belal and his allies, and they will do anything to prevent her ascension.

Facing assassins, avenging angels, Hell’s deadly politics—and her real father—Natalia must accept the love of more than one man and embrace her demonic heritage as a Princess of Lust. If she doesn’t, all that she cares about will be destroyed, and Heaven and Hell will plunge into Chaos.

About the author

Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she’s been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened.

From a young age she’s been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she’s never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her ‘sexy space’ and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

I thought the same thing years ago when I watched Legend. I didn’t want her with Tom 🙂 I love sexy demons. Demons and vampires are my favorite because they tend to be darker and tougher. I read some angel books but they usually are more romantic and sweet. Id love to win your book. Thank you for the chance.

Omg so I’m not the only one. That so rocks. Those horns they make me so hor … um well anyway. I think Demons. Hello fallen angel does it get more bad boy then that? I think not. So exciting a new author to stalk I mean be interesting in very enthusiastically 🙂

    • May 7, 2012 at 8:03 am

So true! I have a thing for horns as well, though let me tell ya from a cover artists perspective, it’s hard as hell(no pun intended) to make a good horned demon on a book cover without him ending up looking like Hershel the Horny Goat Boy. 😛

I have a serious thing for ANGELS. Always have!

Why are you always making us pick only one. I remember the movie Hell Boy. Now, he got me going so I’ll also say Demon.

Uh, well if it qualifies you for therapy, then I am way overdue! Well at least there would be more than one of us for the same group session.

While I definitely get the draw and certainly wouldnt turn down one of those demons. I ve got to say my soft spot is for shifters. Always has been and it doens’t seem to be changing!

I love vampires but between angels and demons, I´ll go with angels. :]

    May 7, 2012 at 10:46 am

I love werewolves and vampire stories, for story angel and demon, still a little for me, but if must choose, i like angel,…because his white or black wings. LOL!!

    • May 7, 2012 at 6:34 pm

I wonder if it’s true…you know what they say about an angels wing span relating to their…you know. Like human men and their feet. 😉

      • May 7, 2012 at 8:18 pm

Bahaha! Ironically, one of my pet peeves with angel book covers is that they make their wings too small and puny. Those wings must be able to lift a 200 pound man!! These dudes are not small!

Big, full, lustrous wings? Oh yeah, that’s where it’s at. *Eyes Raphaels lovely gold and white… sighs*

A vampire! Thanks for the chance to win!!

  • May 7, 2012 at 1:27 pm

Oh, I don’t know! It’s so hard to pick. I would really prefer one of the BDB brothers.

    May 7, 2012 at 2:35 pm

Well since Wraith Seminus (Larissa Ione’s Demonica Series) is my book boyfriend I must go with demons ;). Thank you.

    • June M.
      May 7, 2012 at 5:38 pm

Wraith is my fave too! How can you go wrong with a half demon/half vampire? LOL

      • May 7, 2012 at 6:37 pm

You can keep your broody blind king, I lust after Rhage, I mean seriously, the guy turns into a dragon and is suuuppper hot. 😉

I haven’t watched Legend or thought of it in years. After reading all the demon/angel books lately, I’d have to say a demon or the devil is my idea of a bad boy.

    • May 7, 2012 at 6:39 pm

You must watch Legend, it is awesome. I used to have the soundtrack on tape(cough-old lady-cough) and I can pretty much ‘hear’ the entire soundtrack in my head. I can’t wait until my kids are old enough so they can watch it with me. It might be a little dark for kids under six. Then again my dad let me watch Poltergeist when I was in the second grade. 😛 Yeah…that didn’t give me some nightmares issues at all.

      I hate clowns.

      • May 7, 2012 at 10:17 pm

I love Legend. I have a very battered VHS copy. lol. As a kid the demon king scared me. Now, as an adult? Holy moly, that guy has serious smex beam rolling off him in waves. His orgasm could rip a hole in the space time continuum. 🙂

    May 7, 2012 at 5:31 pm

I can’t really decide. Vampires were my first exposure and love in paranormals, but I also love shifters. And since I started following blogs last year, and getting lots of book recommendations, I have found that I love demons and defils too. If I had to pick just one, I would go with Wraith from Larissa Ione’s Demonica series, him being a half demon/half vampire is sexy!

    • May 7, 2012 at 6:40 pm

I keep meaning to start reading the Demonica series but other things keep on coming up. I need to win the lotto so I could just read all day. 😉

  • May 7, 2012 at 6:31 pm

    A demon with big hard…horns 😉

    • May 7, 2012 at 6:42 pm

Pervert!-lol- Unless you meant that totally in an innocent manner and my mind turned it dirty, which would probably make me a pervert. 😉

Okay…I’m definitely a vamp tramp…I’ve read so many stories that feature dark, dangerous and delicious vamps…I’m fanning myself as I write this…

  • May 7, 2012 at 7:47 pm

I’m more into the aliens, but I have to admit, the demon in Legend is very sexy. Though I always loved the unicorns in that movie.

I’m anxious to read Daughter of Lust. 🙂

    The jaguar shifters

  • May 7, 2012 at 10:20 pm

Wooo….how to pick a favorite? I have a weakness for men with brogues, so I’d have to go with a male, with a brogue, and a huge, long, thick, sword ( 🙂 ), and perhaps a demon (with the wings – cause they’re fallen angels right?) who is also part shifter. MMMMMM mama. That’s a panty droppa!

    • May 8, 2012 at 7:07 am

Just the accent itself is a panty dropper. If I ever make it across the pond to Ireland I’ll be walking around with a constant dreamy smile.-lol-

    Hi, Ann:
I had put a moratorium (sp?) on entering contests, but I love your books so much that I made an exception. (As an aside and directed to Grave Tells: I have had a really hard time entering everything on the rafflecopter – alot of the links weren’t working).
I’m an equal opportunity bad boy lover in the paranormal worls and I look at them on a case by case basis. Angelus from the TV show Angel is one of the baddest-asses around (and what a cute ass it is!).

Vampires get my motor running. But I wouldn’t mind getting down with a furry. It’s just so hard to pick just one bad boy. I guess I’m just easy.

  • May 8, 2012 at 4:17 pm
