Book Tour & Giveaway (US/Int): Something Witchy this way comes!
If you’re a regular here on GraveTells, you know we support authors of all publication types… self, indie, and the big houses. We believe that where a book is published doesn’t matter nearly as much as the skill, creativity, and dedication of its author and editing team. When I stumbled on the work of author Sara King earlier this year, I found myself immediately drawn to her vivid imagination and the compelling depth of her characters and settings. Ms. King could easily have gone the traditional publishing route, but is prolific enough that many of her stories likely wouldn’t have seen the light of day through one of the bigger houses, so she decided to strike out on her own and has an impressive collection of excellent work to show for it. She recently helped found Parasite Publications and is excited to announce the Mystics & Mayhem young adult series by a stellar new author. Ms. King’s resounding endorsement of AJ Myers makes us excited to take a closer look at Something Witchy, and we think you’ll like it too. Enjoy!

About Parasite Publications
Parasite was founded by a group of publishing pros who left the stagnating traditional publishing industry to ride the wave of the Electronic Revolution. We honestly believe that there’s a better way of publishing, and that Amazon and ventures like it are the answer to the sprawling corporate behemoths that have spent thirty years doing their best to turn authors into a number on a balance-sheet. We’re bringing the character back into publishing one author (and thousands of rabid fans) at a time. You can get more information on our mission by checking out our Facebook page here.
A. J. Myers is one of the MANY extremely talented authors out there who, for some twisted act of Fate, never got picked up by Traditional Publishers, despite having multiple agents slobbering at her heels. We feel extremely lucky to have found her and taken her on board with Parasite.

I read the excerpt and simply have to read the book. I also want to win a copy since my book budget is non existent. I’m a huge fan of the Paranormal/Supernatural genre and have been for over 50 years.

Congrats on the book A.J. Loved the excerpt! Just one question for you: with such a big family around you, how do you find the time to write?
Honestly? I do most of my writing at night. My family is really supportive, though. If I’m on deadline and need to get things done, they go out of their way to help me out. 🙂

Congrats on the release of this book. Great excerpt.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Congrats on the book, A.J. I love reading books about witches and a big fan of Charmed the TV series.
What made you decide to write a novel about witches?
The idea for the Mystics & Mayhem series came from a poem a friend of mine wrote–you can actually read that poem at the beginning of Something Witchy :)–that was about a love potion. I thought, “Yeah, a teenage witch would be a lot of fun!” And it really has been. Watching as Ember stumbles her way through the magical world has been a total riot! 🙂
Congrats! This is great!! Thank u for writing a fun witches read!! Hope to win this wonderful book!!!
I am currently about half way through and loving the book so far. Are any of the characters based on real life people you know?
Marlena
Ember is actually based on all the teenage girls I know–and, trust me, I know a lot of them. But the only character in Something Witchy that’s based on a certain person is Grams. I based her on a very special lady that had a huge impact on my life. She’s gone now, but her memory will live on through Grams 🙂
This is the first time I’ve heard about the book and I appreciate the great exerpt.
A very entertaining start! I love Ember already!
I almost breezed past this post but something made me stop and read the excerpt! Love it! Cannot wait to read your book. Thanks for the excerpt!
Thanks for the generous giveaway! and Congrats on the book!
Very nice excerpt.
liked the excerpt, yep shouldn’t go off on the cop save it for court (if your going to fight the ticket)
Have you ever been to a creative writing workshop?
No, actually, I haven’t. Well, unless you count my mentoring sessions with Sara King. No creative writing class could have taught me what she did–with her own creative flair lol. Truly, I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher 🙂
I was just wondering if you had a favorite character to write? Thank you for the giveaway.
Of all the characters I’ve written in the last four years, Ember is, hands down, my favorite. I love her personality. She doesn’t take anything laying down, but underneath that hard shell is a very soft heart that’s just waiting for someone to put in the work to get to it. That, and she’s absolutely hilarious! 🙂
I just got the book looking forward to reading it. = )
I love the excerpt! I can tell already that I LOVE her writing style. Not to mention, the everyday humor. I can’t wait to read this book! Thanks for the giveaway!
You are a new author to me. I enjoyed the excerpt and I’m putting it on my TBR list. I have a couple questions: What inspired you to write a YA novel with witches? Do you write YA only? Not that it matters, I read all types of books. Wishing you continued success. Thanks for the giveaway.
Hi, Julie!
Something Witchy was inspired by a poem a friend of mine wrote about a love potion. I couldn’t get it out of my head. I really thought it would be fun to write a teenage witch, so I sat down one day to work on another project I had going (and might actually finish someday lol) and the next thing I knew I was typing ‘All my problems started with a dead guy’ instead.
YA is such a fun genre that I’ve concentrated mostly on it over the last couple of years. I have four kids, all of them teenagers, and a lot of nieces and nephews in the same age group so I’m surrounded by inspiration. I do have another series planned once Mystics & Mayhem comes to an end, though, that will be targeted toward a more mature audience 🙂
My oldest is almost 12 years old and she loves this genre! Good thing I love to read as well hehe we read the books together and discuss what we like or didn’t like about them 🙂
This looks like a great read! Good luck on your tour.
Great interview and this book sounds fabulous! Thanks for the giveaway!
