A Wild Ride (The Bullriders, #1)A Wild Ride by Andrew Grey

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This story has a lot of heart. The characters feel authentic and their dialogue sounds like life-long Texans actually talk (especially older folk who live in more rural areas), making it easy to slip into the story world. As a pro bull rider, I expected Dante to be Mr. Macho, maybe overbearing or overly aggressive, but he was almost sweet in a competent way. Definitely defensive about certain subjects and more than willing and able to defend himself and those he cares about – he was responsible, loyal, and easy to like. I also really liked the unexpected sides of Ryan’s personality. As co-founder of an investment firm, he has the position and power to come off as “too good” for a salt-of-the-earth cowboy like Dante, but he’s all calm and cool reason with a light (yet stern) dominance that perfectly fits Dante’s need to release his constant mantle of responsibility. Their relationship touches some less intense aspects of BDSM, particularly D/s in the bedroom, but in their everyday relationship they’re partners and it’s has an easy, comfortable feel. This is a fun, light read with strong family connections.

I wish I could choose half-star ratings. I give A Wild Ride 3.5/5 stars.

Thanks, Sophia! I met Andrew at Authors After Dark last month and his is adorable. I wish I could have had more time to hang out with him. I’m looking forward to reading more of his books and happy that he signed some for me with personalizations. Such a doll!
