Book Tour & Giveaway: Meet biker bad boy Timothy Santos of the Smokin’ Aces
Age: 37 years old
Favorite foods: Anything Tex-Mex! Enchiladas, Fajitas, Tamales…
Favorite music: Country Western, of course. He favors a band led by Bobby Flores (Disclaimer: Kay David’s brother plays the steel guitar in this band, and you won’t believe how good he is) When Bobby’s not around, a little Southern rock does the job, somebody like the Doobie Brothers.
Biggest Pet Peeve: People on the road who don’t look out for motorcycles!
Sexy preference: Slow hands
Memorable Quote: “When I get on that motorcycle, I’m someone else and that someone I have to be isn’t a man you’ll like.”
More about the Smokin’ Aces…
My fictional undercover team, the Smokin’ ACES, are supposedly a part of The Texas Rangers organization. The Rangers were loosely organized in 1823 by Stephen F. Austin to guard new settlers in what would later become Texas. Enlisted for a period of one year, the men received $1.25 per day for pay, rations, clothing and ‘horse service.’ They became part of the Department of Public Safety in 1935 and remain so today. According to the state web site, the Rangers are the oldest law enforcement organization on the North American continent with statewide jurisdiction.
I know a officer who recently retired from the Department of Public Safety, and he is one of the most principled men I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not to mention the fact that he was extremely handsome in his uniform!
This officer was stationed for a time in the Valley. This nomenclature refers to the southernmost tip of Texas, bordered by the Rio Grande. Harlingen and McAllen are two cities this side, Matamoros and Reynosa are on the other side. I deliberately set the Smokin’ ACES series in this area because my family owned a ranch there and because it’s now considered one of the most, if not the most, dangerous part of the state.
My friend was once filmed by a dash cam driving his patrol car while another officer inside the vehicle attempted to stop a bad guy from getting away—by shooting a very large gun at other car’s tires.
I have interesting friends.
TEXAS HOLD’EM is a work of fiction, of course, but the men and women who protect us every day are just about as real as real gets. They are the true inspiration for all my stories.
About Texas Hold ‘Em
Part law enforcement. Part criminal. And all deliciously bad…
Working undercover as part of an elite team of Rangers disguised as the Smokin’ ACES biker gang, Timothy Santos walks the thin line between law-enforcer and law-breaker. With one of his informants missing—and possibly dead—at the hands of vicious cartel leader El Brujo, Santos will do whatever it takes to find justice. Even if it means heading to Rio County to look up his former lover…who’s not only the sheriff, but Santos’s only lead.
Rose Renwick is not happy to see Santos. In the past, their chemistry had been explosive—raw, sensual, and unforgettable—but she’d been burned. Now Santos is back in town, looking just as lethal and as irresistible as she remembered. But Santos wants something from her—and suddenly Rose’s family is in danger and her town is under attack. The only way out is to trust the one man she swore never to trust again. Ante up…
