Every time I open a new Rebecca Zanetti story I'm reminded why I keep coming back with such enthusiasm. Blazing intensity—carried by either lust or action-fueled adrenaline (sometimes both at the same time)—lights up her stories, fills the pages with excitement and anticipation in the best possible way.

I finished Wicked Burn several days—and books—ago, and there are still moments from the story that haunt or warm me. Okay, well, I actually blackmailed him with information I’ve learned about his people (and they are SO not human), but same diff. He’s here, he’s ready to talk, and this is probably a one-time deal.

Kellach is big and broad with black hair and even darker eyes. He has a lovely Irish brogue, so I’m quite excited to hear him talk. Accents. So yummy when they’re on, so painful when they’re wrong. Kellach Dunne—the hero of Wicked Ride and a Dark Protectors universe character introduced in the parent series—is an Irish boy through and through, and Ms. Zanetti takes a risk in portraying his accent that pays off big time. Step 1: Spell it out by sound so readers develop a guided ear for the lilts and stops. Step 2: Write the dialogue in normal English to keep from annoying, alienating, or confusing readers. Step 3: Try to read a line out of Kell’s mouth without hearing his sexy brogue in your head. Brilliant!
