Thoughts:
This book was such an emotional roller coaster! The story opens up with a short stint with the Ferals, but then jumps right to Kara’s life-changing night, when Lyon shows up and takes her home with him, whether she likes it or not. She’s heart-broken over the life she left, utterly terrified of the unknown before her, and completely addicted to her kidnapper. While Lyon tries to reassure Kara and make her comfortable, he knows how much the Ferals need her to assume her role as their Radiant, and she can’t help but be overwhelmed by their intensity.
As Lyon tries to calm and protect her, he finds he’s unable to keep himself fully under control around her. She’s got him completely enthralled with her more-than-willing attitude and luscious, responsive body. When his beast gets the best of him, no one can tame the raging desire that flows out of him, except maybe Kara. It may just be too late when they finally figure that out.
There are twists and turns along this ride. One minute I’m smiling to myself because a moment shared was so touching and sweet, and the next I’m crushed because of something that happens or that they’re reminded of. Just when you think they’re getting something right and everything will be ok, it all backfires and they’re in even deeper trouble. I also had some laugh out loud moments, such as when the Shaman orders everyone to get laid to rid them of magic. For some reason the song “Sexual Healing” then got stuck in my head *giggle*. There were a few mysteries that I could guess at pretty easily, but there were also questions that were much harder to answer and some surprises that I couldn’t see coming.
We see primarily from either Lyon’s or Kara’s eyes, but occasionally from someone else’s when it’s pivotal to the plot, so we feel the impact of every event that’s experienced, especially the emotions Lyon and Kara feel when together. The book is very well written, and while it’s a romance about animalistic men, Pamela Palmer shows their gentle and caring side, and does it without using any vulgar language (not that it’s a bad thing). However, she does show their animalistic side in their rituals…let’s just say, they’re not shy.
Memorable Quotes:
Being a woman’s a bitch.
Two days after Christmas, she’d woken up a frustrated bundle of restlessness as if overnight she’d developed a chronic, severe case of PMS.
Shameless. Love it!
“Are you feeling better?” His mouth kicked up, a small gleam in his eyes. Apparently everyone knew the Shaman had ordered her penetrated.
“I’m feeling much better, thank you,” she said primly. But she flashed him a smile that said she knew full well what he’d been asking.
Don’t you love a match made in heaven?
He stared at her for one long moment before scowling. “Damn, you’re bossy.”
She grinned at him. “That’s why I’m so sure we belong together.”
If you liked Desire Untamed…
If you liked this book, you should absolutely try Dark Lover by J. R. Ward. It is book 1 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It’s about a vampire brotherhood fighting to save their race from an enemy with a bottomless source of soldiers, and all without the humans ever knowing. It’s got a similar plot line, but very different story. Both authors have even named their characters with goofy, yet sexy versions of badass. Lyon, Tighe, Paenther, Rhage, Phury, and Vishous are just a few examples between the two *wink*.

Thank you for the awesome review! I have not read anything from Pamela yet, but I have added this one to my TBR. 🙂
I hadn’t either, so I was pleasantly surprised, and I think you will be too!
This is one of my favorite series. I love just about every novel in it, and it’s still ongoing! If there is one thing you can count on with each book, it’s that you will be shocked and surprised at the end of it. =)
