GraveTells November 2011 Book of the Month & Reviewer’s Choice Awards

by davincikittieNovember 30, 2011

After introducing the GraveTells Book of the Month award in September and the Reviewer’s Choice award in October, we have even more winners for your “must read ASAP” pile from November!

Let’s start with November’s Book of the Month…

If you haven’t yet read Rosalie Lario’s Demons of Infernum series, you’re seriously missing out. Whether you’re looking for romance, action, humor, steamy sex scenes, or close family ties, you’ll experience all that and more when you spend some quality time with these witty half-demon brothers.  Their sarcastic t-shirts alone are enough to make me want to read these books and that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the fun and quirky hidden jewels in this series!  Rosalie Lario is a fairly new author on the PNR scene and if her work in this series is any indication, she’s on her way to carving out a healthy niche of devoted followers with her signature blend of passion, charm, and punch.  Still undecided?  Read our advance review of Touch of the Angel (Demons of Infernum book #3) here and our review of Mark of the Sylph (#2 in the series and our Book of the Month for September) here.  What are you waiting for?  Go check it out!

On to the Reviewer’s Choice awards!

We totally intended to pick one.  One book for BotM and one book for RvC.  Luckily for you guys, we had a three-way tie, so you get not only one but THREE Reviewer’s Choice books this month.  Did you notice that Touch of the Angel (above) has two award badges on its cover image?  That’s because, in addition to being chosen as Book of the Month, it was one of the three that tied for the Reviewer’s Choice award.  We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to Rosalie Lario for earning both awards in the same month for the same book!

The other two reviewer fave reads this month were Lord of the Abyss by Nalini Singh and Devil Without A Cause by Terri Garey

We know you’ll love ’em, so go!  Read!  Make new imaginary friends!  *grin*

How do we choose the winners?

I’m sure you’re wondering how we make these decisions.  Here’s the skinny…

For Reviewer’s Choice, each GT reviewer that posted a review for the selection month gets a number of votes equalling their total reviews posted for that month.  They can spend those votes, in whatever split or block they want, on any book that earned a 4.0/5 or higher rating in its GT review.  The book(s) with the highest vote total wins the honor and gets the nifty little silver ribbon on its book cover across our site.

For Book of the Month, the selection is a little more complicated and it is chosen solely by me.  As Executive Editor of the site, I take several factors into consideration, but most importantly, the book must have a minimum 4.5/5 rating and its review (if I haven’t personally read it) or story (if I have read it myself) needs to be memorable and have impact.  It’s largely based on “gut” feeling, so it’s hard to spell out the specific metric for you guys, but basically it’s an informed subjective decision that I make each month, and I don’t take that lightly.  For example, this month, it was extremely difficult to choose between Devil Without A Cause and Touch of the Angel.

What’s missing?  A Reader’s Choice award! Starting in January, you guys will get to vote on your favorite GT-reviewed books at the end of each month, and those winners will be announced along with our BotM and RvC selections.  *confetti* We’re also putting up polls for GraveTells Book of the Year soon, so stay tuned for that!

Where can I get those cover badges for my site?

Want to display our awards on your site?  Whether you’re an author, publisher, fellow blogger, or enthusiastic reader, we’d be honored for you to share the GraveTells awards in your sidebar, post, or homepage!  The code, along with side-bar friendly image sizes, is below…

Wow, I cannot even begin to tell you how honored I am that Touch of the Angel is November’s Book of the Month and is also tied for Reviewer’s Choice!! I’m so touched that you amazing folks over at GraveTells enjoyed Ronin and Amara’s story as much as I enjoyed telling it! They’d stop by to thank you themselves, but that would involve coming up for air, LOL. Ah, young love…

Hi Rosalie! Thanks for stopping by! I’ve truly enjoyed reading the Demons of Infernum books. I love finding series and authors I know I can depend on for quality stories and entertaining characters. I’m really looking forward to seeing Dagan deal with both Ronin AND Lina! He’s going to have his hands more than full.. *grin*

Maybe once Ronin and Amara come up for air, we can bring the crew over for a group interview. =)

    Congratulations Authors!

I was pretty impressed with your books too. I think the winning choices are right on the money.

Look forward to a chance to vote.

It’s going to be even tougher to choose in December – we have a promising lineup for this month and I can tell you that there are at least four 4+ rating books coming up in the next week alone. Whew! Good month for the readers. =)
