Midnight Breed Week & Giveaway (US): Meet Rio
![]() |
Name: Rio, aka Eleuterio de la Noche Atanacio
Physical Description: Rio has thick, dark hair- “espresso brown” to be precise- and topaz colored eyes. He is muscular, over six feet tall, and has a beautiful olive skin tone. His arms, shoulders, and torso are covered in glyphs that change color depending on his emotional state. He used to be considered extremely handsome before a horrific explosion injured him. Rio now has severe scars on his cheeks, brow, and on most of the left side of his body. Special Powers: Rio has the ability to kill with just his touch alone. He can draw away life in an instant, and must manage his power with rigid control. Personality Type/Quirks: Before a devastating betrayal, Rio was easygoing, sophisticated, and laid back. He was always quick with a joke or a smile. After the deception, though, he became volatile, angry, and unstable. However, once Dylan Alexander came into Rio’s life, he slowly started to revert back to the person he used to be. He is loyal, smart, and strong. |
Spotlighted in: Midnight Rising (Midnight Breed series #4) by Lara Adrian
Mated to: Dylan Alexander Memorable Quotes:
Extra info: What makes Rio such an admirable character is his amazing ability to overcome anything. His childhood was traumatic and tragic, yet he still grew up to be a fierce, powerful warrior. His life hasn’t been easy, but the gorgeous Spaniard always manages to pull through and keep going. All in all, Rio is, without a doubt, a survivor. Represented byRachel @ GraveTells Links |

I have always loved tortured Hero types who still retain their loyalty to their loved ones. Rio sounds like a true survivor and Hero. How lucky is Dylan ? I can’t wait to start the series. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

Who doesn’t have a list of people they wouldn’t mind being able to kill with just a touch LOL
I can’t wait to read about Rio and Dylan.. If he has physical and emotional scars, and she is sweet and strong enough to heal them, the romance will be heart-melting!

Love this series!! Tegan is an absolute favorite of mine.
I love this series! Rio is a great character, the dark brooding tortured hero. I am not sure if I would want his power it kind of scares me. You would have to have complete control over it to avoid killing someone in a fit of anger.
Rio’s power is not one for everyone to control. Let’s just hope he can maintain control of his power to kill by touch! Yikes! What a responsibility he has to deal with!
I can’t wait to read this series! Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Sounds like a great book! I’ve always loved the struggle of the betrayed to pull themselves back and to see what they learn in the process.
Thanks to Rachel from our own awesome GT review team for representing Rio!
I loved Rach’s writeup for his bio, and Rio’s story was one that was really emotional for me. I definitely like him, and Dylan is a little firecracker. She’s great!
If I had Rio’s power I would be bracking out theold hitlist.
I love Rio and feel for him. I have no idea how i”d use his power. It would be very frightening to have that ability.

Of all the warriors that were part of the first books, Rio’s story was the one I was most interested in. After the explosion and betrayal, I just really wanted him to have his HEA.
I think I already have his gift when it comes to plants. I don’t thin I would want it.
I love all the Breed and just can’t pick one, so I want them all!!!
I have a feeling that Rio is going to be a favorite character when I get to his book. I can’t imagine the control he has to have with the ability to kill with just a touch.
I think Rio is one of the strongest Breed. With everything that he has overcome, who can think otherwise? 🙂
Wow Im Loving This Series I Would Use Rio’s Power To Rid The World Of The Truly Evil.
Rio is my favorite. His and Dylan’s story touched me the most. I couldn’t stop crying the first time I read this one. I recently lost my father to cancer and the scenes with Dylan and her Mom just had me flooding my pillow with tears since they were often very similar to my last moments with my Dad. Rio is amazing and so hot! I can’t imagine going through all he has since he was a child. Such a great story of survival. This remains my favorite book in the series.
Rio’s got a scary power! I would not use it!
Rio sounds like he’s had a difficult time. The glyphs changing color is something I’d like to see, that would be really neat. I don’t know about his power though. I don’t think I’d like to be able to kill someone by touch. It seems like that could go wrong very quickly if you weren’t careful. I’m glad Rio is getting back to being himself.
Bloody hell I need to read these again this series is AWESOME!!!!!!!
Rios story was so heart breakingly tragic in the betrayal and loss he had to his physical and mental stability, it was so good to see in the end there was a way for him to find some peace.
I have never read this series before but I love these types of stories. Looks like a great contest.
I felt so sorry for Rio when he was betrayed in the first book. I can’t wait to read more about him and see him get his HEA.
Rio is my second fav. His story is so tragic. I understand Eva’s thinking but wow… she was so wrong. Dylan is the perfect modern woman. I love the way she adores and helps Rio, though she fought him for like half of the book! They’re perfect together!
Rio’s story was amazing. For him to find love with Dylan after what Eva had done to him. Such a tragic story with a great happy ending.
Yes! The next book! Will be buying this one this Friday. Hurry up Friday!
Rio’s story was probably the hardest for me and not in the way that I didn’t like it but in the way that I just really wanted him to come out on top. After all that he had been though, I just really really wanted happiness for him. As for his talent I don’t think I would want it at all unless my family or I were in a life or death situation.
love rio
