Memorable Quotes (a sexy scene from Taken by Midnight):

***The excerpt below is steamy. Those with sensitivities to sex scenes should skip this section***

Brock looked every bit as lethal as he had the night he’d come to save her in the city, except instead of the cold malice that had rolled off him in waves that night, now he vibrated with something equally aggressive and intense: desire. All of it centered on her.

“You are . . . damn, Jenna,” he rasped, tracing the line of her shoulder, then circling the dusky rose tip of her breast. “You have no idea just how lovely you are, do you?”

She didn’t answer him, didn’t really know how. Instead, she moved closer and brought his mouth down to hers in another scorching kiss. Skin against skin, her breasts crushed against the bulky slabs of his chest, Jenna nearly combusted with need. Her heart was hammering, breath racing, as Brock reached down and unfastened the button and zipper fly of her jeans. She caught her lip with her teeth as he slid his hands between the slack waistband and the skin of her hips, then smoothly eased the denim down over her white bikini panties. He sank to his haunches, following the denim’s descent with his hands.

He took care around her healing gunshot wound, cautious not to disturb the bandage that wrapped around her thigh. “Is this all right?” he asked, glancing up at her, his deep voice so rough she hardly recognized it. “If there is pain, I can draw it away.”

Jenna shook her head. “It doesn’t hurt. Really, it’s okay.”

His bright amber eyes shuttered with the fall of his lashes as he turned back to his task. Her jeans removed, he sat back on his heels and gazed at her, stroking his hands up and down the length of her legs.

“So, so beautiful,” he praised her, then leaned his head in and pressed his lips to the triangle of white cotton between her thighs, the sole bit of clothing that covered her now. Jenna blew out a shaky sigh as he caught the fabric in his teeth and fangs. With a meaningful look up at her, his hands still caressing her legs, he tugged at the cotton before letting it snap softly back into place against her overheated flesh. He followed it with his mouth, kissing her again, more determinedly now, nudging aside the paltry scrap of material and nuzzling his face deep into the moist cleft of her sex.

His hands clenched her backside as he explored her with lips and tongue and the erotic graze of his teeth against the wet flesh at her core. He eased her out of her panties, then spread her thighs open and suckled her again. He brought one hand between her legs, adding the slick play of his fingers to the already dizzying expertise of his mouth. Jenna trembled, lost to sensation and less than a breath away from flying apart.

“Oh, God,” she gasped, quaking as he delved between her drenched folds with the blunt tip of his finger, penetrating her slowly, while his kiss stoked her need ever tighter. She rocked against him, awash in heat. “Oh, my God . . . Brock, don’t stop.”

I love the Breed series. Cant wait to read this book. If I could absorb human pain, I would go to the hospitals and try to help people.

This is the best series! Love the Breed. I would help as many people as I could .

Well, I’m selfish and not a fan of pain so I don’t think I’d want to absorb someone else’s. Of course, if it didn’t hurt me, that would be another story and yes I’d help out!

Nice excerpt! It would be a lot of responsibility to have his ablility. I would use it to help in children’s hospitals and animal hospitals (if it works with animals).

I enjoyed the except from this book immensely! The ability to absorb others pain would be a great benefit in any organisation that may have others attacking (like medics in the army)

Brock would definitely be handy to have around. I don’t think I would handle absorbing other’s pain if I would feel it — already live with chronic pain of my own, I don’t need more, lol 🙂

I enjoyed this story about Brock because he was a relatively unknown warrior in the earlier books. His gift would be great because there have been so many times I’ve wanted to heal someone of their pain if I could.

I’m still dying to have all the answers about Jenna though because this was the last Midnight Breed book I finished so far.

Brock’s gift is amazing. I’m so happy Jenna wasn’t a true Breedmate but chosen by the Ancient to carry on his legacy. It’s a great series twist! This couple is so sweet. Both have dark, tragic pasts and they reach the light together. I so love this book!

Like all of them Brock is great! I’d use the power to ease the pain of those dying of cancer. It’s so horrible.
    Thank you.

I like how Brock fell in love with Jenna even though she is not a breedmate but yet she has some sort of tie to the ancient. Can’t wait to find out more on Jenna and what is happening to her. Hopefully maybe some answers in Mira’s story.

I love that one of the Breed falls for a female who is not a Breedmate. Though Jenna can’t exactly be called human now either. Hope we get more answers about exactly what that “chip” was that the Ancient placed inside her. This book was very interesting, and it left a lot of unanswered questions….in a good way.

I really enjoy how they are all brothers and bust up with each other but they also defend each other fercly. I love that.

Thanks so TwiMom227 for representing Brock!

This was one of the less predictable books in the series for me. With Jenna’s… developments… you never really knew what was going to happen and I was glad to see a non-Breedmate heroine.

Sometimes its those strong, silent type that you have to watch out for. 🙂 Brock’s ability to absorb human pain sounds rare. I wonder if it’s physical or mental pain. It would be hard to actually absorb someone’s physical pain, like a gunshot wound. I don’t know if I’d be strong enough to use that ability if I had it. But Brock sounds like a special kind of man that women dream about.

Reading Brock’s story right now! Already think his power is very cool and would love to be able to soothe my childrens’ pain if they were having any!

I would take away every hurt my children every had with this power. Then I would work in a pediatric wing in a hospital. This was one of those books that makes you guess what will happen next because it caused you to question the things you knew about the storyline.

Beside the fact that this excerpt left me breathless, I have to say I like this character’s power very muc.h…absorbing othrts people pain is extremely altruistic.
