All the King’s Men by Donya Lynne has vamps, enforcers, and a king whose reign is threatened.  Shifters are the enemy and mates are a precious thing, a bond to be cherished and protected.  BUT!  Don’t think all the mates are locked away to be pampered and protected.  In book 1, Rise of the Fallen, our heroine is ex-military and knows how to use her weapons… all of them.  *grin*  In book 2, Heart of the Warrior, both the heroes are badasses, AKM enforcers who will take on anyone or anything threatening the other.  In Rebel Obsession, the third book in the All the King’s Men series, the king’s daughter is drawn to the bad boy and definitely doesn’t put up with being treated like a sheltered princess.
