Title: The Curse of Gremdon
Series: n/a
Author: Ciara Knight
Prominent Characters: Arianna, Tardon, Saldor
Recommended Reader Age: 17+
Sexual Content Level: moderate

Being a female Elite Warrior in Gremdon is not easy. Arianna is the only woman who is good enough to be an Elite Warrior, which means she’s surrounded by male soldiers. That also means that Arianna has to constantly prove how strong she is to show people that she’s just as skilled when it comes to fighting as the guys. And damn, but that girl can definitely hold her own against the male warriors. 🙂

Another downside of Arianna’s decision is that female warriors are not allowed to have sex. Most of the time, Arianna doesn’t mind this rule, as she loves to fight, but whenever she’s around fellow warrior, Tardon, she can’t help but wish things were different. Arianna has been drawn to Tardon for years, but it is forbidden for them to be together. I loved the interactions between the two, and I thought it was so sweet that Tardon-this big, tough warrior- was so tender with Arianna. He clearly adored her, and I like that he respected her, too.

After returning from training one day, Arianna discovers her younger brother is sick – the life-threatening kind of sick. She’s devastated, since he’s the only family she has left. There is a way for Arianna to save him, but it means risking her life to do so. The cure that’s needed to heal him is outside the kingdom’s walls, in the forests of Gremdon, where the Cursed reside. The Cursed are vicious creatures that used to be people, and once a person is infected by them, they become Cursed, too. Willing to take the risk for her brother, Arianna leaves the safety of her home, with Tardon along for the journey, to get the serum.

While most of the book’s pace flowed smoothly, there were times when it was a little slow and the story seemed to drag. However, most of these parts involved a secondary character named Saldor, someone I just didn’t like. As you learn more about him and his past, you can’t help but feel sorry for him, but there were other times when he came across as selfish and all-knowing (almost arrogant, really.)

What I like most about Arianna is that even though she’s tough, she doesn’t act mean to prove it. She’s an extremely skilled warrior, but she’s also kind-hearted and generous. She’ll do anything for the people she cares about, and she even protects the people who don’t deserve her protection, because it’s her duty and it’s something she believes in. She’s honorable and selfless, and I admire that about her.

Overall, The Curse of Gremdon had plenty of action and romance, not to mention an interesting plot twist. It was an enjoyable read!

Memorable Quotes:

Sexual frustration may just drive Tardon crazy…

“Where are you going in such a rush?” Saldor called after him.
“To jump in an ice bath.”

Poor, innocent Arianna…*laughs*

She took a deep breath and steadied the plate of food on her lap. “I am not sure how to please Tardon…um…down there.” Arianna gestured with her fork at Saldor’s groin.
Saldor knocked the tray from the table and his bacon and eggs splattered on the floor.

If you liked The Curse of Gremdon…

I recommend Lord of the Fading Lands, book #1 in the Tairen Soul series by C.L. Wilson, which is an excellent fantasy series with plenty of romance.

Final Thoughts:

The Curse of Gremdon is a great fantasy book, with a strong heroine and an intriguing plot. It contains mystery, action, romance, and unexpected twists. For those who like fantasy books with romance, you’ll want to check this one out! The Curse of Gremdon is a GraveTells Recommended Read!

About The Author
Rachel Elizabeth
I'm an avid reader who loves Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, and Young Adult books! Despite the fact that my TBR pile is huge, I simply can't stop myself from constantly looking for new reads. I've always loved to read, but my love for books has grown in the past few years (Yes, I admit, Twilight was one of the first PNR books I'd ever read.) Since then, I've discovered many amazing authors and books that I hope to share with more people. Books are an escape for me, and without them..well, life would suck. Alot. Any author who can make me forget about real life by pulling me into their story and getting me to genuinely care about their characters is a good author in my book. I also love authors who write about strong, gorgeous, sexy alpha males. I mean, c'mon, who doesn't love a good alpha male? When I'm not reading (gasp!), I'm usually going to classes, studying, or spending time with family and friends.
