Review: Inhale (Just Breathe #1) by Kendall Grey
TLDR Recap:
A chance to be director of a whale tagging project in Australia could mean a promotion for whale biologist Zoe Morgan, but things start to go wrong as her dreams take an eerie turn. Following the death of his partner, sentinel Gavin Cassidy drowns himself in typical human vices and stays out of the Dreaming, until he’s called to help the human Wyldling, Zoe, as she’s attacked by Fyre Elementals. They both find more than they thought to look for in each other, but will it be enough to save themselves and the entire human race? GraveTells thinks Inhale is worth a look!

Thoughts:
Things are intense between Gavin and Zoe right from the start, as she’s hunted in the Dreaming by an unknown enemy, and has no idea what’s going on (let alone that it’s not just some weird dream). Gavin vows to protect her so she doesn’t end up like his partner, and it brings him closer to her as she comes to depend on him – her perfect dream guy. Things heat up between them and it only further complicates things as trouble continues to find them. Gavin and Zoe end up a part of something bigger than either could have imagined and it’ll change them both forever, though neither has any idea where it will really leave them after all is said and done.
There’s a lot going on in this story, almost to the point of confusion. Between the world building, which took me a few chapters to really understand (which I’m still a little iffy on), and the political intrigues, it was a little hard to follow at times. I was left with many unanswered questions, but I have to believe it’s setup for book 2, which I will be on the lookout for!
On a side note, there is a big underlying whale conservationist tone in this book, which from what I understand coincides with Kendall Grey’s real life mission. Props to her for finding a new and interesting way of speaking out and expressing her passion for the subject!
If you liked Inhale…
If you liked Inhale, you should check out Jacob by Jacqueline Frank. It’s book 1 of the Nightwalkers series and it’s about demons with power over the elements. They’re not your typical demons, and the romance is so sweet and spicy *grin*.

Thank you sharing your thoughts. It sounds interesting. I have not read a story like this. I will probably not read it though because my son has the same name as the hero. Is that weird?
Lol.
Haha, no. I can definitely see not wanting to read a book where the love interest has the same name as my kid, or any family member for that matter really.
Inhale is an intense read. Kendall is the master of keeping the tension high. I often found myself saying, “come on, give these guys a break!” LOL!! Thats a good thing. LOL. Because when things come to ether…**woo** they come together. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your review, Buffy. 🙂
I do enjoy stories about the fae. This one sounds pretty good. Appreciate the warning that there is a lot going on at first.
Thanks for sharing the review!
This one’s not so much about the fae as it is about balance among the elements. That’s all I can say though…
