Giveaway (US/Int): An exclusive up close & personal interview with Blackthorn’s sexy Dehain vampire brothers

by davincikittieMay 27, 2013

Fellow GT reviewer Molly and I are big fans of Lindsay J. Pryor’s Blackthorn series, an edgy story universe set in the gritty urban sprawl of Blackthorn, teeming with supernaturals who would just as soon eat you for dinner as take you out to one… the wining and dining you option is much less likely, actually.  Ms. Pryor’s Blackthorn series rides the line between paranormal romance and urban fantasy, with the best aspects of both.  Each story (so far) has at least a happily-for-now ending and the characters are strong, punchy, and not afraid to get in your face and up close & personal – with all their snark, confident swagger, and dark humor.

Molly and I were eager for an interview with Blood Roses‘ mysterious Caleb Dehain, who isn’t exactly a teddy bear and not the most likely interviewee candidate, so Ms. Pryor graciously set it up for us.  A trip into the Dehain club, the heart of Caleb’s Blackthorn territory.  What follows is a glimpse into our adventure that day, complete with risky questions and daring requests.  Caleb and Jake were on their best behavior, yet we still left feeling shaken and, well, lucky to be in one piece… especially after I pushed Caleb for answers the way I did!  If you are new to the Blackthorn universe, you may want to skip this interview and start out reading Blood Shadows instead.  It’s the first story in the series, and lays the groundwork for much of what follows in Blood Roses.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to Lindsay Pryor and Bookouture founder Oliver Rhodes!  Lindsay was a doll to work with and crafted much of the interview on her own… and as you can see, it’s quite substantial in length!  She didn’t let Caleb and Jake shy away from our hard questions and let us have a lot of fun with the characters.   Oliver was super responsive, getting the materials sent back and forth between us in record time, even at night, on a weekend, and right up against the deadline!  Much <3 to you guys!  I had a blast!

Special thanks goes to the following enthusiastic Blackthorn fans, who helped us build the awesome list of questions for Caleb & Jake!

About Blood Shadows

Blood Roses (Blackthorn #2) by Lindsay J. Pryor“She was supposed to kill vampires, not save them. Those were the rules. That was the lore.”

A rare and powerful witch whose blood is lethal to vampires, Leila has always viewed her serryn abilities as a curse. After seeing her mother slaughtered as a child, Leila longs for a safe, quiet life.

That wish is shattered by Caleb Dehain – a vampire with a dark past and a darker heart. The most feared serryn hunter of his generation, Caleb now needs the help of one of the witches he despises to save his dying brother.

A serryn who has no reason to help him. Except that he has her sister.

Caleb and Leila are each other’s worst nightmare – but the slow-burning spark of attraction between them is undeniable. Will Leila’s blood be his damnation? Or could her kiss be his salvation?

This looks fabulous! I’m new to the series, but I’m instantly drawn to anything that walks the line between paranormal romance and urban fantasy, and I love worlds with a heavy helping of darkness and grit. I’m excited to check it out. (Love the cover, too. Gorgeous!)

Fabulous interview, and what fun it was to read. The questions were incorporated so cleverly into the overall structure, I felt like I was back in Blackthorn. Well done! Now, I have to wait till Blood Torn comes out – torture!

Loved this interview. Really interesting how Caleb answered all the questions without giving anything away. Can’t wait for ‘Blood Torn’. Don’t forget the first chapter is at the back of ‘Blood Roses’. 🙂

I haven’t read either book yet, so the entire interview was interesting. I love the concept of the rough, tough, and gruff vampires instead ot the cuddly sparkly variety. I love when vampires are portrayed as they hunters they were born to be.Can’t wait to pick up the series

Love the interview and so chuffed that my question was posed to Caleb! I love the Blackthorn series, it’s so addictively delicious, I can’t wait for Blood Torn.

Glad you liked it! I really enjoyed the whole process with Lindsay and Oliver. I’ve seen “chuffed” around a few times recently and had to look it up to be sure it meant what I thought it did, hah! I guess the American equivalent would be “stoked”? *grin*
