Book Tour & Giveaway (US/Int): Caridad Pineiro on tortured souls and honorable men
Please help me welcome author Caridad Pineiro!
Lots of things go through your mind when you’re on the edge of death. Alex Garcia knew more than most since death had touched his life on too many occasions. As a young college student, he’d watched his girlfriend’s father gunned down and die in her arms. As a DEA Agent, he had barely survived a failed mission to shut down a terrorist attack in New York City. But on that night, Alex had faced more than death. He’d faced a vampire.
Or at least he thought it was a vampire. Years later, he’s still not sure that’s what he really saw or if it was some kind of hallucination from the blood loss. When Alex encounters a sexy woman on the South Beach strip that looks too much like the demon who had a taste of him years earlier, he wonders if he is maybe losing his mind.
Alex sounds pretty tortured, right? My favorite kind of hero. Alex is an honorable man struggling with a truth that he doesn’t want to believe: That vampires really exist.
In KISSED BY A VAMPIRE, my October 16 release from Harlequin Nocturne, Alex has to come to grips with not only that reality, but with the growing attraction that he feels toward Stacia, a 2000 year old vampire who is nothing like what Alex ever expected.
Stacia is a tortured soul also. Since the night she was turned, Stacia has grown more and more lonely. After so many years, Stacia no longer believes that love is possible for her until she meets Alex.
Both Alex and Stacia will battle their growing attraction, especially since Alex is trying to find the missing daughter of a former colleague which leads him to a dangerous white slavery ring.
KISSED BY A VAMPIRE is filled with suspense as well as sexiness and deep emotion. I loved exploring all the facets of two such complex characters. Even more, I loved being able to find a way to give both Alex and Stacia the happily-ever-after that they both deserve.
How about you? Do you love your heroes to be tortured? Do you like a mix of vampires and some suspense? I’d love to hear from you what you like in your stories.

A vampire who has given up on love gets a second chance from a most unlikely mortal…
For two thousand years, vampire elder Stacia has roamed on her own, haunted by the betrayal that turned her into a creature of the night. Her nights looming empty and eternal, Stacia longs for love, but settles for quick bites and sinful pleasures in South Beach. Until she comes face-to-face with the unforgettable DEA agent she once brought back from the brink of death. Alex Garcia knows that demons exist-the real kind, the kind that are kidnapping women and selling them into slavery. Finding those victims is his focus-not a beautiful seductress whose otherworldly abilities can’t possibly be real. But when Stacia summons all her powers to prove what she really is, Alex will summon all his to believe in the vampire’s kiss…. |

I really love reading Caridad Pineiro books. Yes, I like to read about heroes who are tortured (this makes them more real, more human). And yes, I like a mix of vampires and some suspense!
Love ‘The Calling/Reborn’ books…Cant wait to read Diana and Ryder stories 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway!
A tortured Hero can be interesting it worked for JR Ward’s character Zadist.
I love when they are tortured by the heroine (I’m not talking fifty shades here, more the way the heroine makes him work for her affections).
Vampires are usually a staple for me but the infinite amount of paranormal characters have broadened the genre, like Dragons and Shifters and Witches Oh My!
Suspense in a great book is what keeps the pages a turning but keeping up the suspense to only deliver a mediocre conclusion is ridiculous and a waste of time, otherwise all for suspense.
I loved Lost by the way definitely a fresh take on the paranormal genre and Adam is an awesome character.
Thank you for coming by! I’m so glad you guys have loved THE CALLING and THE LOST. As a writer, knowing that you like the books is the most rewarding thing.
Yes, generally I like my heroes to be tortured by some thing. Whether it’s something that’s happened in his past, his present, or the main girl is playing hard to get and there is another guy to “compete with”. I like to read about “realistic” heroes even if they ARE something paranormal. And, yes I LOVE vampires and suspense mixed together.
I like tortured heroes and a mix of vampires and suspense.
I love tortured heroes and I love suspense and thriller. Vampires are okay, but not absolutely necessary for my to enjoy the book.

I like tortured characters and suspense in tue plot of vampire books. If the autor are very good With this the book can give a lot of emotions…
A tortured hero makes for great reading. How did he come to be so?
I find that vampires & suspense go hand in hand. I could not imagine a great vampire read without it.
I like mildly tortured…somewhat scarred. There is always something to recover from.
I love a mix of the supernatural, and the hero should never be an angst driven person. It makes them so boring and the story too long.
That’s the perfect combination for me. I love the tortured, emotionally (or physically) scarred supernatural hero the most and when you put suspense in the mix, well…that is the icing on the cake!!!
I don’t mind my heroes to be a little tortured but I don’t like it when they are are so tortured it overwhelms the whole book. I do like a mixture of vampires and suspense or anything that goes bump in the night with a little suspense. It is what keeps me turning the page =)
if the story calls for it. but not if it drags on and on . i like my vamps to be ultra cool and love suspense
I have read her books, I get them from Harlequin Nocturne.
I’m a vampire fan, since Dark Shadows, to Forever Knight.
I would like this one please. 🙂
Not really a fan of tortured heroes but a tortured hero that I love the story is Zsadist from Lover Awakened. I love love love vampires and mixing it with suspense will be an awesome story ! ‘,..,’
Thank you all for sharing what you like! I am so glad that you like tortured heroes and also a mix of suspense and paranormal. That’s what I loved doing with THE CALLING/REBORN. I appreciate you all taking the comment and also, helping spread the word with all your tweets and shares. Be back later!
Thanks so much for being our guest, Caridad! I really enjoy your writing and am looking forward to this one. Mmmm, tortured AND honorable heroes! Love having you on GT. <3
I don’t mind if the hero is tortured as long as the author has written a great character I will love. I do love reading vampire books though and action and suspense too. Just depends on what mood I’m in really.
I definitely like my heroes tortured:) The angst of that is suspense to me.
I love vampires and suspense, they don’t have to be tortured, but a secret or two isn’t bad.
live vamps and suspense, not so much on torture
I like my heroes battling their own personal demons, makes things interesting. Vampires and suspense just goes very well together.
I don’t really like it when they’re tortured. it makes me want to jump into the book to save him from his demons!
But I don’t mind one tortured hero occasionally 🙂
And I LOVE vampires mixed with suspense 😉
A little suspense is always good.
D. All of the above! Happy Release Day!! I’ve heard such great things about your books! You are totally on my TBR list! Thanks for the chance to win!

Oh all of the above! You got met at “vampire” 🙂 Plus, I cannot resist a tortured and flawed hero. Thank you for the opportunity!
