Book Tour & Giveaway (US/Int): Amber Garr shares her Promises soundtrack

by davincikittieMay 12, 2012

Let’s give a warm welcome to Promises author Amber Garr!

If you have visited my website, you’ll see that I have a section posted under Extras where I wanted to share my playlists or favorite songs for each book. You will also notice that it’s said “I will compile a list soon” for several months now. It just seems that there aren’t enough hours in the day sometimes. So thanks to Bewitching Book Tours for finally making me put this post together for at least one of my books!

I have been a fan of music for as long as I can remember. My parents would play records (yes, actual records) for us to fall asleep to at night that ranged from Mozart to Steely Dan. I’ve been a dancer since age three, and find that I simply do not function well if I don’t have music to listen to. I can’t read music and I can’t play an instrument, but I sure do enjoy a good song or artist when I hear one. Reading, writing, studying, working…if you see me, I will most likely have those white earbuds hanging from my head.

So without further ado…here is my list of albums and/or songs that I consistently listened to while writing Promises. The soundtracks helped me concentrate (especially those without words), and then there were other songs that emulated a scene or a character and I found myself going back to them each time I needed inspiration. And now I think I’m inspired to get the rest of my playlists together…

The Syrenka Series #1

Genre: fantasy/paranormal YA

Sometimes following your heart can end up destroying the ones you love.

When seventeen-year-old Eviana Dumahl is faced with the responsibility of an arranged marriage and clan leadership, she is forced to choose between the life required of a mermaid and one of a teenage girl simply infatuated with the wrong guy. Kain, her devoted fiancé would make a wonderful husband except that she’s been in love with Brendan, a shape-shifting selkie, ever since they were kids.

Choosing to abandon her family, her clan, and her life with Kain will have dire consequences far beyond anything she could have imagined.

A war is brewing amongst the clans and Eviana unwittingly becomes a pawn in the intricate schemes of a twisted mastermind. With Brendan’s life on the line, she has no choice but to involve those who she once considered friends. Amidst encountering senseless tragedies and immense loss, Eviana discovers that she is more valuable as a clan leader than anyone ever suspected. Her survival is not only dependent upon the loyalty of her friends, but also on her acceptance of a life that she had so adamantly tried to escape.

That’s a hard question. My life is mostly trying to take care of my two little kids. So I would maybe say all American girl by Carrie Underwood is the soundtrack of my life right now.

Every time I read these posts about matching music to books, I am always in awe that people are able to do that. So that being said, I have no clue about songs that match my own life. I would have to say things arranged by George Winston or David Lanz are probably the closest.

Your book sounds good. Thanks for sharing!

The soundtrack to my life would definitely be from this little known group that has such a great way with words and beats. It’s almost hypnotic and I find it easier to write my reviews to their music.

SBTRKT: “Something Goes Right” & “Trials of the Past”
