Book Tour & Giveaway (US): Katie Reus on carving out that essential “me” time
Please help me welcome Primal Possession author Katie Reus!
Thanks so much to the gang at Grave Tells for having me here today! Last time I was here we did a hilarious interview that is still one of my favorites to date. I’m so glad they’re letting me come back to hang out again.
I work from home (full time writer!) and I also watch my young son during the day so carving out time to write, let alone have free time, can sometimes be a challenge. But, my mother is one of those people who always insisted that wives/mothers/women have their ‘me time’. And her words are something I’ve taken to heart, especially now that I’m a mom myself. Carving out time alone to read or time to just decompress can be a challenge, but it’s what keeps me sane sometimes. Reading is what I consider my time and I won’t give it up.
I like to walk in the mornings, mostly for exercise but also because I get to ‘read’ on my walks. I listen to audio books on my ipod and sometimes I stretch my walks out longer because I’m not ready to stop listening. This is a huge part of my daily and weekly ‘Katie time’. I also like to bring my kindle with me when I go places because I never know when I’ll have a chance to read; like in the bank drive through, stuck in a traffic jam or a long wait at the pediatrician’s office. Or on those rare occasions I can carve out time to get a pedicure (hee, soooo rare) I definitely bring my kindle! I can’t imagine my life without books so no matter what, I always find time to read.
What about you? What do you do for your ‘me time’? Or how do you ensure that you carve out a little ‘me time’? Leave a comment and be entered to win a copy of Primal Possession (US ONLY), releasing 9/4/2012.

To protect her, he will unleash the beast within…
As his pack’s second-in-command, lupine shifter Liam Armstrong gives orders and takes what he wants—until he meets red-headed, blue-eyed December McIntyre. Liam knows the human beauty is his intended mate the moment he sees her, but December is far too strong-willed to accept his protection. December, whose brother is the town sheriff, has every reason to mistrust shifters after one killed her youngest sibling. But the forceful and handsome Liam has gotten under her skin in a way she hadn’t thought possible, and the desire she feels for him is almost too much to bear. When a radical hate group targets all humans known to sympathize with paranormal beings, December is attacked in her bookstore. Reluctantly, she turns to the only one who can help her: Liam. And he is going to take her to places within herself she never knew existed. |

my me time is at night after everyone goes to bed — I READ MY BOOKS !!!
Me time is a cup of tea and a good book. Usually before everyone wakes up in the morning or at night after everyone goes to sleep.
Me time for me is reading my Nook or taking the dog for a walk in the evenings. My husband is gone a lot on nights and weekends and my son is a senior in high school so he is busy doing his thing. So I have more me time now!
My me time is spent reading. I get up about 45 miutes earlier than everyone and stay up later than my daughter to read while the hubby watches “his” shows or is at work.
My “me” time involves reading (go figure). Why is this different than any other day? Every Sunday I am very strict about not reading anything I have to review, it’s only for leisure reading. That’s how I make sure I get some me time every week and that’s how I spend it, as simple as that may seem lol.
I get most of my me time when the kids are at school now that they are a little older. I used to ask my husband to take them once a week so I could go do something just for me. Carin

I agree with your Mom (and you), me time as a mom is important. It helps keep my sanity, and reminds me know that I am more than just a mom. I have three small children, so when I get home from work it is hit the ground running. My husband is great though, on the weekends he will occupy them for a few hours so I can get something done or read. Even if it is just going to the grocery store by myself, I can still blast whatever music I want on the way there and back =)
I usually don’t get a whole lot of me time since I have a rather large family, but I do make it a point to do me time every year on my birthday.
Me time? What is that? I work full time and have 2 kids so I don’t really get me time. They go to bed at 8 and I’m usually in bed soon after. When I have days off I read and blog on my free time. Thanks for the giveaway!
My “me time” is usually when my husband is watching sports. I curl up with a good book . Right before beadtime, another “me time” is playing a couple of Facebook games. 🙂
My ‘me’ time is late at night after everyone has gone to bed. I really need to start listening to audio books so I can ‘read’ while I do other things.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
Pretty much my me time is after everyone goes to bed. I can watch a movie or finish reading one of my books. 🙂 Thanks!

My “me time” is definitely my reading time. Considering that I am single with no children, it is not hard to carve out “me time”, lol.
Reading is my me time. I don’t have any children so it is pretty easy to make time. Thanks for the chance to win!
I have two types of “me time.” The first is when I work out. I get up WAY before the rest of the family and use this “me time” to perfect my body. The second “me time” is after I clean up dinner and that’s when I read. Thank you.

My “me time” is when everyone is at work. I either read or watch TV.
I usually stay up after everyone else goes to bed so I can get some quiet, “me” time to read, take a bubble bath, or just look at the stars while I have a drink.
Honestly, I just either go for a walk or read. 🙂
I see that most people read during their ‘me’ time! I’m enjoying reading everyone’s answers 🙂 Thanks so much to everyone who has stopped by so far!
I’m with everyone else. My me time is spent reading! And since I apparently tend to tune people out once I’ve started reading for a while, (or so I’m told!) I guess I dont need to carve out the time so much, as just read for longer than 5 minutes and my mind does the rest!
My “me” time is my book time. It keeps me balanced. I have a special chair and everything. sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com
“Me” time is usually when I can take a nice, long, relaxing bath or when I can curl up with a book and catch up on my TBR pile or a spa day!
Thanks,
Leanne
I like to read.
I use my ‘me time’ for reading of course!
‘Me time’ is in the early morning before everyone wakes up. I enjoy a cup of coffee and check out Facebook and my emails. 🙂 It’s a great way to start the day.
Congrats to Karen Michelle Nutt on winning the paperback copy of Primal Possession!
Thanks to Katie for being such a great guest (we love having you!) and to all of you guys for coming out to chat about that elusive “me” time. 😉
