Book Tour & Giveaway: Take a beachside stroll with South of Surrender’s sexy wind god Chrysander

by davincikittieJune 13, 2013

Please help me welcome Laura Kaye and Chrysander Notos!

On a recent vacation to the beach, I had the strangest dream… or was it?  Check out my oceanside encounter with the Supreme God of the South Wind himself!

*Note: This interview is written from a very unique dual-first point of view.  DVK’s thoughts and speech are in standard font and Chrysander’s are in italics.

South of Surrender (Hearts of the Anemoi #3) by Laura KayeShe’s the only one who can see through his golden boy façade to the broken god within…

Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, is on a mission: save Eurus from his death sentence and prove his troubled brother can be redeemed. But Eurus fights back, triggering vicious storms that threaten the mortal realm and dangerously drain Chrys.

Laney Summerlyn refuses to give up her grandfather’s horse farm, despite her deteriorating vision. More than ever, she needs the organized routine of her life at Summerlyn Stables, until a ferocious storm brings an impossible—and beautiful—creature crashing down from the heavens.

Injured while fighting Eurus, Chrys finds himself at the mercy of a mortal woman whose compassion and acceptance he can’t resist. As they surrender to the passion flaring between them, immortal enemies close in, forcing Chrys to choose between his brother and the only woman who’s ever loved the real him.

“A fast-paced thrill ride.” ~New York Journal of Books

“Sexy, emotional stories, powerful, evocative writing, a vivid and unique vision, and enough magic and mysticism to keep the most demanding reader satisfied, Laura Kaye delivers it all. I love this series!” ~Maggie Shayne, NYT Bestselling Author

So far, who has been your favorite Anemoi too write about? Or, which was your favorite to research?

    • June 14, 2013 at 7:49 am

Karin – Man, I’ve enjoyed writing all the books in this series, but so far I think Chrysander was my favorite to write, with Owen being a close second! Fun question!

Thank you for the post and giveaway! The interview was fun, and I’m excited to begin the series. My fingers are crossed for the giveaway. 🙂

Have you always been a fan of Greek mythology?

    Best Wishes,
    Lindsey V.

Fun question, Lindsey – I was always intrigued by Greek mythology. I’ve worked as a historian for most of my life and always felt an affinity for mythology as a result. But the mythology of the Anemoi was totally new to me. It’s been fun to learn and write!

I’ll ask this of both Chrys and Laura 😀 When writing Chrys’s story did you find he had any funny or weird quirks that you didn’t know before? 🙂

Thanks for the interview and the giveaway! love character interviews!

This is a totally fun question, Amy! 🙂 I always knew Chrys was a jokester, and that he used humor to deflect, and that he had touch issues, and that he was a playboy. I didn’t discover any of those in South of Surrender, but this was the first time I really got to delve beneath the surface of this guy who the others describe as being on the superficial side. And I loved doing that.

Also, Chrys said to say: Weird is relative. 😉

Thanks for the giveaway. I have added this series to my TBR list.
Where do you see the series going? A lot of books in the series or just a few?

    • June 14, 2013 at 10:51 am

Hi Eva – thanks so much! There will definitely be four full-length novels (so, one more in spring 2014). Companion novellas are possible but not definitely planned yet. 🙂

    I. CAN’T. WAIT. FOR. THIS. BOOK.

Hmmm… a question… What do you do to relax after a long day of work?

    • June 14, 2013 at 7:18 pm

Hmm…well, assuming I’m not working all night, which I often do LOL, if I want to relax I either watch TV or read a book. Lately, I’ve gotten into The Walking Dead… 🙂

Do you have any songs that you would pick for a theme song for each character or a song that makes you think of one of them? Thanks! Im reading the first one and loving it! 😀

Yay! So glad you’re enjoying the first one! 🙂 I have theme songs for the books more than for the characters… The song that most represents South of Surrender to me is Katy Perry’s Wide Awake

Thanks to Laura and Chrysander for being such great sports and letting me play in the world of the Anemoi, and thanks to all of you for being so supportive and enthusiastic!! <3
