Book Review: Double Time (Sinners on Tour #5) by Olivia Cunning

Double Time is the last book in the Sinners On Tour series, and I read it second (after Wicked Beat). I don't recommend doing that unless you don't mind some major plot spoilers, and you definitely don't want to start with Double Time if you've never read any Sinners books because you'll miss out on the history between Trey and a lot of the other band members and their wives. Trey Mills, the sex god rhythm guitarist for Sinners, is bi-sexual and has "helped" his band mates hook up with all their ladies. He's also been in love with his best friend most of his life...

Book Review: Six Ways From Sunday (Southern Scrimmage #1) by Mercy Celeste

Six Ways from Sunday by Mercy Celeste

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There is just something about Mercy Celeste’s writing that pulls me in and completely captivates me. Six Ways From Sunday was a fairly short read, but intense and emotional throughout and it ended beautifully. I loved both characters, Bo and Dylan, and their connection is soul-deep. I don’t want to say too much about the story since it’s a pretty quick read and you’ll discover most of the main story arc in good time, but between a loveable football badass with the turf skills to make a seasoned pro athlete cry and a solid, stoic Force Recon Marine who sacrifices nearly everything for [...]

Book Review: A Wild Ride (The Bullriders #1) by Andrew Grey

This story has a lot of heart. The characters feel authentic and their dialogue sounds like life-long Texans actually talk (especially older folk who live in more rural areas), making it easy to slip into the story world. As a pro bull rider, I expected Dante to be Mr. Macho, maybe overbearing or overly aggressive, but he was almost sweet in a competent way. Definitely defensive about certain subjects and more than willing and able to defend himself and those he cares about - he was responsible, loyal, and easy to like. I also really liked the unexpected sides of Ryan's personality. As co-founder of an investment firm, he has the position and power to come off as "too good" for a [...]

Micro-Review: Hers to Cherish (Verdantia #3) by Patricia A. Knight

One of my favorite aspects of the story, aside from the smoldering sexual chemistry between Steffania and Ramsey, is that it's edgy. Bad things sometimes happen to the characters and it gives the story weight amidst all the sinfully sexy encounters... not irreparably bad and the hero and heroine always recover, but other characters aren't always so lucky and this is a nice counterbalance to the romantic thread. Plus, you can't have a gladiator book based around D/s sex without some violence and cruelty... and without some good ole gratuitous smut! The setting of Hers To Cherish is a planet called Vxloncia that closely mimics ancient Rome, from gladiators and slaves to opulent [...]
